AllTrust Networks FAQ’s

If you don’t see an answer to your question here, please contact an AllTrust sales representative by calling 1-866-280-1679.

What is different about AllTrust software from other seemingly similar software on the web?

AllTrust provides 2 levels of protection no one else does:

Our network of 2,000 stores share data on bad checks, like a credit bureau.
  • If the company has bounced other checks – you know!
  • If the customer has passed other bad checks – you know!
  • With over 115 million checks cashed, we have the data to protect your business.
We can identify customers with returns by fingerprint alone
  • Our FBI-quality biometric device lets us compare fingerprints of new customers with those of every customer with a returned check.
  • Other systems use a device that costs 80% less, which means they only compare fingerprints of customers at your own store, not other stores.
  • Ask our sales representative to show you the data on how many good and bad customers live near your store.
Are the checks guaranteed?

You can participate in our Guarantee program; where all qualified payroll and government checks are guaranteed 100%. Check out details on the Guarantee Program to learn more.

Can the software tell if there is money in the account?

Yes, we offer a Maker Research service to check that an account is open and has a positive balance. Visit our Maker Research page for more on our check verification service.

What is one-to-many matching; and why is it preferable over one-to-one?

One-to-many matching means you are matching one person’s fingerprint against all the other fingerprints in a database; identifying and authenticating that individual. One-to-one matching requires a second piece of information (e.g. last name; phone number) to perform the identification; making it less secure and less efficient.

Yes, but the PC must meet certain minimum specifications:

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro and Windows 11 Pro

Memory: 4 GB RAM (minimum) 8GB Preferred

Processor: Pentium 4 (minimum), i3 or Better Preferred

Can I use equipment I already own?

Many of our merchants re-use check readers, ID scanners, and PCs they already own. Your sales representative can help you determine which devices are compatible.

Maker Research allows merchants to instantly research a check maker’s account by accessing both live third party databases and the AllTrust network. This feature is provided as a per-transaction charge, and is available to all customers with high-speed Internet connections. With just one click, Maker Research allows you to:

  • Determines if the account has a positive balance

Follow these steps the first time you wish to connect to the host:

  1. Click on “Options” in the menu at the top of the page, then select “General Options.”
  2. In the Automatic Server Connection box, select “Yes” from the drop-down menu. Default time will be set at 20 minutes.
  3. Click the “OK” button.

How do check fees work across the chain in a multi-store set up?

When setting fees based on the type of check cashed in multi-store environments, all stores within the chain will share the same fees by default. Any change made at one store will be updated at all other stores in the chain upon the next connection to the host.

Stores that would like to have different fees, check types, and surcharges should be separated into store “groups.” Store groups can be defined and modified using Web Reports under the “Manage Store” functionality. If you have questions about how to set up store groups, please call our toll-free Customer Service number at 1-800-683-4214.

From the Paycheck Secure main screen, click “Help” in the menu bar and select “About Paycheck Secure.” A dialog box will appear showing the current version of the software.

Why is my check reader flashing red when scanning a check?

It could be one of a few reasons; that the check is being scanned backwards; the check was not scanned properly; or the MICR levels on the check are too low to read.

Try the following:

Make sure the check is turned the correct way round, and try rescanning.

Reset and clean the check reader.

  • Run a crisp dollar bill through the check reader a couple of times.
  • For the ImageSafe, unplug the power cable, wait about 3 seconds and plug it again. Also, try plugging the USB cable to a different port.
  • For the Excella STX, remove cover by pressing all 3 release buttons (2 at front; 1 at rear) while lifting cover until it detaches. Ensure there aren’t any paper pieces or dust particles inside.
  • You can use canned air to remove dust particles and small paper pieces.
